It’s called fashion, honey, look it up! ✨ Can we all take a moment to just appreciate how amazing Emmarosa is? She is legit, on my life, a model in the making. She was so attentive and took directions like a pro. I can’t get over this teepee setup. Keep an eye out, there’s a teepee themed mini session in the making. ❤️❤️

#workinprogress color work on Yi qi. This one has been moving slower than expected, mainly because I am trying to go by actual color data and mix that with some artistic liberty due to a lack of details. Basically, there is one fossil specimen of this animal, while it is pretty complete and has fossil feathers with preserved melanosomes there still isn't a complete image of the full color pattern for Yi qi. Melanosomes are organelles found in animal cells where the synthesis, storage, and transport of melanin take place, they are responsible for color and photoprotection in animals, and scientists have found a way to compare fossilized cells in some very rare cases, helping them determine the color of the animal based on the size and shape of the cells found in existing relatives. I tried desperately to find a more detailed account of the colors, but only ended up finding out that there were 9 points with preserved color information, with most of what was found showing the cells, called eumelanosomes, representing blacks and greys with large blacks on the feathers on the hind legs. There were also cells called phaeomelanosomes that usually present with yellow, browns, and reds on part of the head and on the membrane for the wings. I will admit that I am taking some liberties, as much of what we know is based on loosely preserved parts, so I chose to base part of my coloring on a bird that has coloring like that vague description in it's patterning, specifically a Blackburnian Warbler. This is only a rough basis to start from, and I am still roughing out the colors outside of the bird reference and the info I have on the color data. This is still a work in progress, but I should have a finished version soon. #dinosaur #wing #dragon #feather #jurassic #paleo #paleontology #paleoart #sciart #science #educational #naturalhistory #extinction #extinctanimals #digitalart #digitalillustration #illustration #art #painting #drawing #maine #maineart #newengland #artistsoninstagram

Rhode Island is nothing like where we are right now (Berlin, Germany) but I have found that no matter where we are there’s always a few lovely moments when framed just right. Although these beaches had many lovely moments...
