housework

#money I never learned about money management. I didn't have much money in high school. I worked so I understood work ethic, but I spent my money on skiing, prom dresses, school lunches and spending time with friends. Managing money wasn't ever discussed with me. When I went to college I had a messy start, my parents argued about who was going to pay for my tuition. And I when I say 'argue' they were in court for almost two years. I won't spare you all the details, but it wrapped up like this . . . I had my own attorney, someone got served with papers and then my dad felt bad and gave me a credit card with few questions for the rest of my 10 year college education. #gofigure When I graduated from college I was handed my car payment and gym membership bill to manage myself. I figured it out. Money management isn't a difficult concept. The more you save and the less you spend the more you have. (DIK is probably reading this thinking, I didn't think she knew that!! #haha) So how do you teach kids about money. I write about chores, allowance and kid money management in my book. Kids can't work legally in Oregon until they are 14. So how do they make/get money? #1 Steal it, #2 ask for it or #3 allowance. At our house we pay our children the equivalent of their age in dollars every week for their contribution around the house. Many, many, many people don't think children should be paid to contribute around the house and my response is HOW ELSE WILL THEY GET MONEY? It's option #1 or #2. #allowance

This is my cat 🤣🙈 she mostly behaves like a dog, waiting by the door for us every day, she is so affectionate and loves rolling over for a tummy tickle and / or just chilling out lying on her back, basking in the sun. And this pose sums up exactly how I feel today. The sun’s out, the football is on and funny enough I just don’t want to do the housework !!! Right, back to the laundry - I’ll only regret it tomorrow 👍🏻😆 happy Sunday! #catsofinstagram #lazycat #catdog #instacat #sunday #sundayfunday #sundayvibes #football #worldcup #worldcup2018 #sunsoutbunsout #housework #norestforthewicked

This weekend me and my dad did some drainage work at the back of our house 🏠 where water 💦 just sat and nothing grew besides mud. Swipe 👈 to see the progress of the pics. It looks a lot 💯 times better. @williepeaden @keriannepeaden #waterdrainage #yardwork #housework #nomoremud

It's Sunday night and I am planning my week. I plan out my exercise, dinners (breaky and lunches are quite standard these days) and my 'To-Do' list. This week I am thinking about cleaning. Last week Mark vacuumed and steam mopped the house which was a welcome help. We don't split up chores as such but I am usually pretty good at keeping the floors quite shmick. Unfortunately, I have been busy lately and cleaning has been pushed down the priority list. This is because I was using housework as a procrastination tactic. I allowed myself to use housework as an excuse for not reaching my goals. I would say that I had to clean before I am productive. Um no. I need to get shit done to reach my milestones. Housework was an excuse to allow my fears to get the best of me. Don't get me wrong, I love a clean house. A home should be a balance of love and living. Housework should be shared. Housework won't kill you but it was helping me to get in my own way. Be mindful of what you are doing and why. What are you going to do this week to help you meet your health and wellness goals? #personalgrowth #productivityoverprocrastination #youdoyou

Natalicia was trafficked into #DomesticLabor in the #USA at age 14. This is P3 of her testimony. “Every day, I woke up at 6 a.m., dressed, and worked nonstop, from morning until night. I made breakfast and served the family. I cleaned the house until it was spotless. I took care of their child. I did all the laundry. One thing I never understood was that they wanted everything ironed: bathroom towels, sheets, even underwear. At 11 p.m. at night, after I’d made dinner, tidied up, washed the dishes, and the children were sleeping, I would have to do the ironing... Sometimes they had family visit from #Brazil, or people over for dinner, and I had to cook and clean for them too. None of the guests ever said a word to me. Neither, mostly, did the parents themselves. There was very little conversation between us. I was a fixture in the house; a robot there to do things for them. I felt invisible, dispensable, and alone. Many days I worked 15 hours straight... At some point, they began to ration how much food I should prepare. Often, they would eat everything I cooked and leave nothing for me. On those nights, I would go out late at night and get something from a nearby store. That money came out of my already small earnings. After a while, they had a second baby, which I was expected to care for as well, and my pay was increased to $150 per month... For three months, I got asthma from inhaling ammonia and Clorox, and couldn’t sleep at night. Even though they were medical doctors, they never took me to the doctor or checked me out themselves. The wife told me to take some of the kids’ medicine before going to bed. I felt I was not treated as a person. Life went on like this for two years... One thing I know is hard to understand for people who grew up with a lot of autonomy is why I didn’t speak up or walk out. Often, for those of us who grow up poor, we don’t have the tools to challenge the people who hold power over us. In situations like these, there are all sorts of power dynamics at play. For one thing, my visa was tied to my work with the family. Where would I go if I walked out? I didn’t speak English and had no one.”

From @biblicalchristianfamilies: "And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4) "Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged." (Colossians 3:21) "...for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children." WASHING COMBOS ꕥ What’s your favourite washing pair at the moment? I swap and change what scents & brands I use so I don’t get used to the smell. At the moment I’m loving these two! The Surf detergent has a super strong scent and I often buy one from this range as I find they clean my clothes well. I love the Tesco ambience range, and when I saw their new concentrated fabric conditioners I had to try! They are £2 for 42 washes. Super fresh and smells great 👍🏼
